Getting Six Pack Abs - How To Really Get A Six Pack Abs

What is the one thing that all of the popular models and most film stars have in common? The simple answer is six pack abs. A defined middle section is considered to be the Holy Grail of fitness. If someone has defined abs, that person is usually considered to be in extremely good shape. I believe this may be due to the fact that fat in the abdominal area is usually the last to go, so if someone is defined in that area they're probably in great shape all over. The strange thing is that if you go into most gyms, you may find that below 5 percent of the trainees actually have six pack abs. Why is that so? This is due to the fact that lots of people do not accurately understand what it takes to get a six pack abs.

Will Working the Core Muscles Get You A Six Pack Abs?

Most people in gyms these days largely focus on core exercises. They are advised by personal trainers to do all sorts of crazy exercises on exercise balls which supposedly forces the body to stabilize itself using "core muscles." Focusing on the core muscles supposedly tones the abs to achieve a six pack abs. I see personal trainers devoting close to 1/2 of the client's time focusing on exercises which work the core. The funny thing is that despite doing this week after week none of these people do not get closer to getting six pack abs.

Another advice given to people is to work the abdominal area hard every day. There are many exercises that focus directly on the abdominal muscles. Lots of people use various floor exercises such as crunches or sit-ups. People also use machine workouts in their quest for a six pack abs. Some people recommend working the abs every day or every other day. Many of them tell you to use high reps and no weight or heavy weight like every other muscle. I see many people do this every week and guess what..not many of those people have six pack abs!

Learn from Someone Who Has Six Pack Abs.

I have a very defined midsection I maintain year round, however it was not always this way. I followed the different recommendations above and failed to get that six pack look. Believe it or not, a back injury helped me figure out what works best to get six pack abs! Let me elaborate...I sustained a back injury 5 years ago and was unable to perform any crunch movement without pain. I was bummed out, because I had a vacation to Cancun planned 8 months later. I wanted to look great in a swimsuit and have firm six pack abs. I had to give up on working my abs directly for 8 full months! I was convinced that my abs would look flabby. A crazy thing happened...I had amazing six pack abs in time for my vacation and I didn't do one ab exercise for 8 months!

My Approach to Getting Six Pack Abs.

Okay, since that time I haven't worked abs directly at all and my midsection looks better than ever. I am convinced that having six pack abs showing is 95% about your body fat percentage and maybe 5% or less about working the abs. You see, all of us already have a nice six pack...it is just hidden under a layer of fat. I guarantee that if you get your body fat to 10% or lower, you will have amazing six pack abs for the world to see. My recommendation is to drop your ab workout and spend that time on cardio. You want nice abs? Hit the Treadmill or the Elliptical Machine. Seriously, it's the only way you will ever see those abs.

How To Get The Body Of A Male Fitness Model And A Few Male Fitness Model Pictures

Male fitness models build muscle but do not become huge and overly muscular like bodybuilders. It's proven that women find the male fitness model physique more attractive than the bulky bodybuilder look. However, many bodybuilders tend to look down on guys that possess the fitness model type physique.

You see many bodybuilders are under the impression that everyone wants to be as big and strong as them. They see a guy who is lifting lighter weights and doing cardio as someone who isn't as successful in the gym as them. They mistakenly believe that bigger muscles equates to being more attractive to women. Nothing could be further from the truth!

The Male Fitness Model Body Is Held As The Hollywood Sex Symbol Look

Men in the entertainment industry who're held as sex symbols are not huge and buff. Hollywood stars such as Brad Pitt, Matthew McConaughey, Taye Diggs, Shermar Moore, Taylor Laurtner and  Daniel Craig are just some of the names who're regarded as sexy men. These men are muscular but are well defined. How many huge and buff bodybuilders you know are held as sex symbols? I'm sure the answer is not much. Therefore, it pays to have a lean muscle build, not a bulky bodybuilder type look.

Male Fitness Models Have To Workout Harder Than Bodybuilders

Lifting weights and bulking up is MUCH easier than burning body fat and getting lean. No matter how big you are...you know it's true! To get big, you just lift with a high volume of lifts and progressively increase the weight over time. You don't have to be on a strict diet and you don't have to hit cardio hard. To get lean, you have to lift to maintain your muscle mass, you have to watch what you eat, and you have to hit cardio like a maniac. The reason you see very few guys in the gym with "six pack abs" is that getting lean is tough work.

A Simple Approach to Leaning Down if You Are Bulky

Getting that lean look is actually simple, but not easy. If you are kind of bulky right now and need to lean down you just need to do a few things:

1) Perform Intense Cardio At Least 4-5 Times Per Week for 30-45 Minutes

2) Multiply Your Body Weight by 12. The Number You Get Will Be The Total Maximum Amount Of Calories You Are Allowed To Eat Each Day...Aim for Less If Possible

3) Quit Obsessing Over Strength

4) Quit Obsessing Over Protein Consumption

5) When In Doubt, Cut Back on Lifting And Increase Cardio

6) You Will See "Six Pack Abs" When You Get Lean Enough. Don't Go Overboard With Crunches and Ab Movements. Cardio is Your Ticket To a Six Pack.

Quit Trying To Impress Guys In The Gym...The Goal Is To Impress Women

When you are hitting cardio hard and limiting your calories, you won't get as big of a pump as you are used to. You will also most likely lose a bit of strength. The big and strong guys in the gym command respect from all the other guys in the gym. I made the decision that it was more important for me to be physically attractive to women, than it was to impress the other gym rats. I aimed to get a physique similar to Matthew McConaughey and haven't looked back since. I don't care if the guys in my gym think that Matthew McConaughey is a wimp...women drool over this guy. Aim for The Male Fitness Model Look  and Don't Look Back!

Six Pack Abs - Get Six Pack Abs And You Will Have A Rare Possession

Why Are Six Pack Abs So Rare?

A shredded middle section is a rare thing people possess these days. You may see lots of models and actors in magazines and movies with a six pack, but you don't often see a regular man or woman with a six pack walking around. Most people after awhile give up on their efforts to get a six pack. They believe that it is something only movie stars or super models should have. I'm telling you to drop that way of thinking!

Reveal Nice Abs Or A Six Pack. Click To Learn More
Lifting a Large Amount of Weight is Not As Impressive as Toned Abs

There are many, many more guys who can bench 315 pounds, than there are guys with a defined midsection. Lots of women can go jogging over 6 miles, but not many women have a 6 pack abs. If you desire to be exceptional, then you should aim to get a six pack abs. If you are already spending time in the gym trying  and you don't have a 6 pack, then you are spending your time doing the wrong things. You will need to change your focus if you want nice muscle tone in this part of your body.

When Your Abs Are Defined, Your Whole Body Will Look Great

When losing body fat stomach fat is usually the last to go. If you reach the point where your abs are visible, then I guarantee you that the rest of your body will look great as well. I think this is the reason that people find a toned midsection so sexy. They are aware that the rest of the body must be toned as well! So if you focus on getting a 6 pack, everything else will fall into place.

Getting a Six Pack is Mainly About Diet and Cardio

I promise you that you could leave out all those crunching and sit up movements and get amazing abs. How do I know this? Well, I haven't done a crunch in over 5 years and my abs are more defined then ever. Have you ever seen the TV show "Survivor". By the end of the show almost every person has really defined six pack abs and I know that none of them got there by ab exercises. You do not have to go to that extreme, but it does show you that low body fat will give you a six pack.

Ab Exercises Probably Account for Only 10% of the Results

I don't think you need to directly workout the abdominal area to get a great a six pack, but if you want pick one and hit it for 4-5 sets. The majority of your time should be spent on a bit of lifting for the rest of your body and intense cardio. As far as choices of cardio go, running on a treadmill or running outside is the way to go. Your abs work harder with running, because there is a certain amount of balancing involves between your legs and upper body. If you are on an exercise bike, your abs don't have to work at all. Your body is being stabilized by the seat.

Conclusion: You probably just need to increase the cardio and decrease the calories if you don't have six pack abs. I know it sounds almost too simple, but believe me it will work for you.
